Sock-it-to-me Sunday
And now for the weekly sock update. The good news is that sock #1 of the Monkey set is complete. It was done with Knit Picks size 1 (2.5 mm) 24 inch circulars. I am not too sure if I like making socks with the circular needles. I might just stick with DPNs. And with that in mind, I did order a set of 2.5 mm DPNs from The Loopy Ewe along with one of Cookie's sock patterns - the Twisted Flower sock. And I already have the yarn picked out for it. I plan on using a hank of Fearless Fibers Superwash Merino Wool Sock Yarn in the Midnight Blue colorway. I also managed to make progress on my Jaywalkers and am almost complete with the gusset on sock #1. But sadly, I made no progress on the Big Black Socks. Hopefully this week, I can get some of it done. But a 12 inch leg goes by very slowly in plain stockinette stitch with 2.25 mm DPNs.

Saturday Sky and more...

And I am very happy to say that my car has another pink yarn ball magnet. Hopefully this one will not disappear like the first one did. Check out the cool license plate holder. Both the magnet and holder came from Scout's Swag.
And last but not least, Nicholas feel asleep in his chair right after eating his lunch. Poor lil guy was so tired that I managed to get him out of his chair, change his diaper, and put him in his crib without waking him up. Now that takes talent. And a very sleepy child.

Hogwarts Sock Swap Show & Tell
Knit, knit, knit.... I have finally picked a pattern for my Hogwarts Sock Swap Pal. As you can tell by the colors, my pal is in Gryffindor. I won't hold that against her. Hope I don't sound too much like a Slytherin because I am actually in Ravenclaw. Anyway, I picked one of the patterns from the Sensational Knitted Socks book. It's the Garter Rib pattern. But I am doing it toe up instead of cuff down as I only have one hank of the Gryffindor yarn. I used the Aloha Cast On method from the Queen Kahuna Crazy Toes & Heels Sock Book. It is chocked full of pictures which are a great help for a visual learner like myself. Well worth the cost of the book.
The yarn came from Cosmic Fibers. It is hand-dyed and I absolutely love it. I actually have two hanks in Ravenclaw colors for myself. Right now I am having too much fun admiring the Ravenclaw yarn. One day both hanks will be socks for me. There is a very good chance that I will buy the yarn from there for the next Hogwarts Sock Swap. Yes, there will be a second round of the swap. So if you missed out on this round, mark your calendars for July 14th. That is when sign-ups open for Hogwarts Sock Swap II.

Punk Rock Gift Exchange - The Final Package
The third and final package of the Punk Rock Gift Exchange arrived yesterday. It was waiting patiently in the mailbox for me when we arrived home from Nicholas' doctor appointment. And it was a great package to come home to. My upstream pal - Kate - had sewn this really funky bag. I am gonna take it out this saturday when I do the grocery shopping. Also there were two balls of cotton from one of the Vickie Howell lines. This was from the Craft Collection - 35% Milk Fiber and 65% Organic Cotton. It is really soft. I have no idea what to knit with it. But its not gonna be dishcloths. The color shown is 775 - Chica. The cool part is that lil Nathan actually recognized Vickie. He has seen alot of Knitty Gritty with me. And last but not least, a very cool necklace with pirate & nautical charms. Big thanks to Kate!!!

Missing - One Yarn Ball Magnet
Sometimes I am amazed at what happens. I had this magnet on the back of my car and now it is gone. How? I don't know. Somehow I seriously doubt that the rain washed it off. I know for a fact that the Chief (my hubby - the retired Navy Chief) would not take it off the car. The only good news is that it is easily replaced. And I was having such a good day. I even baked some banana nut bread plus I got some work done on my Jaywalkers. They are being knit in Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in the Daffodil colorway. Currently I am working on the heel of sock #1.

Sock it to me Sunday
In an attempt to have more knitting content, I have decided to post my sock progress each sunday. Today's picture shows sock one of a pair of Monkey socks for my Monkey Sock Swap pal, one sock out of a pair of Jaywalkers for me (my third attempt at knitting Jaywalkers) and the second sock of a pair of Big Black Socks for Socks for Soldiers. The Monkey and Jaywalker socks are being knit in Lorna's Laces that came to me from swap pals. They are the Girly Stripe and Daffodil colorways. I am seriously considering knitting a Clapotis in the Daffodil colorway even though I am not finished with the one I am currently knitting in the Black Purl colorway. Plus I would love to knit a pair of Jaywalkers in the Black Purl colorway. Now that I know how many stitches I have to cast on with 2.25 mm DPNs it will go by much quicker. I figure I will need three hanks of the sock yarn in Black Purl. I had seen some at All About Yarn in Tigard but I was a good girl and resisted. Instead I got a container of Eucalan wool wash - Lavender scented. The Chief (my hubby) said I should. Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it.

Saturday Sky at the Market
Today's Saturday Sky comes from the Hillsboro Saturday Farmer's Market. The last time we tried to go to Saturday Market we had lived in Tualatin and arrived just shortly after market had closed for the day. This time we live about 5 minutes from where it happens. Nathan even got to ride on one of the ponies. He was a very good boy and didn't make a big fuss when the ride was over.

Monkeys in Oregon...
These lovely Monkeys have landed here in Hillsboro, Oregon. And they fit perfectly. I love them!!! They were knitted by the talented Jen of Monkey Knits. Little Nicholas saw the lil monkey and instantly grabbed it for hugs and kisses. Besides the great socks, there was the cute lil monkey bag, the lil stuffed monkey, monkey stitch markers, size 1 Crystal Palace DPNs, a cute monkey pen, a lil pad of monkey paper and hand-dyed yarn by Jen herself. The colors kinda remind me Starburst candies. I love everything. Thank you Jen!!!
