Saturday Sky

A long day comes to an end. We spent some time at one of the many parks in the area. This one was Rood Bridge Park in Hillsboro. The boys had tons of fun and lil Nicholas fell asleep on the way home.

Sock-A-Month KAL 2006

Finally finished the anklet socks for the hubby. Not east to knit socks when a 10 month old wants to grab the needles. I really need to learn how to do these on 2 circulars. So I caved in and ordered the size 1 ciruclar needles from Knit Picks. But anyway, here are his anklet socks in all their glory.

Anklet socks done in Moda Dea Sassy Stripes with size 3 DPNs.

Saturday Sky and Oregon Flock & Fiber

It was another gorgeous day here in Tualatin. A perfect day to attend the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival down in Canby, Oregon. I had alot of fun at the festival. The boys like the animals and Nathan tried to talk to one of the alpaca. he also liked the bunnys. People (both men and women) were sitting around at the benches knitting, spinning, and enjoying themselves. I saw one gentleman with tatoos using a drop spindle. Plus there was a lady there who was knitting 2 pairs of socks on 2 circular needles. Not 2 socks but 2 pairs of socks. I was in awe. Right now I am plugging away at knitting 1 at a time with DPNs. I did get some of the very yummy
STR yarn plus some small samples of roving to play with. Not that I have a drop spindle but just in case. I was thinking of making one like shown in the Knitty Gritty You Spin Me Right Round episode.

Here it is - STR yarn in all its glory. From left to right - XMAS Rock, Fire on the Mountain, and In the Navy.

Here are the lil samples of roving from Dayspring Farm located in Corvallis, Oregon. These are very soft and colorful and right now I am having fun just feeling how soft the wool is. And here is the poncho that my hubby bought for me. It's made out of 100% Peruvian wool and very soft. Can we say dry clean only?

Happy Birthday Nathan!!!

Nathan Alexander
Pueblo, Colorado 17 September 2002
And 4 years have passed...where has all the time gone? I remember when he was this squishy lil babby with skinny pink legs and now he is 4 years old. At least this birthday wasn't plagued by hurricanes - just rain. On his first birthday in 2003, Hurricane Isabel paid a visit. Then he got mad cuz we wouldn't let him play in the rain. We were the only people to stay in the apartment complex when the hurricane arrived. The entire area around us was flooded but since we live on the top of the hill, we only got some flood waters in the parking lot. The apartment building itself was on stilts, so no flood waters got in.

Here's Nathan with his Thomas train cake. He just loves that cheeky lil train.

Let the rainy season begin.

Saturday Sky

And the clouds roll in.... It's only supposed to be about 74 degrees today. Today the lil one (Nicholas) and I went out to two of the local yarn shops that are nearby. Our first stop was to All About Yarn in Tigard where we picked up some Berroco Suede. Very cute lil shop. Nicky gave his lil bashful grin. The other stop was at Molehill Farm in Lake Oswego. It's only one exit down from where I live so that makes it the closest yarn store besides Michaels. I might be going there Wednesday night for knit night. Apparently hot soup will be served at 6 pm. Also, I caved in and bought a cute lil sheepie with the measuring tape that comes out of its tail. Lately I have been thinking about sheep, so I am really looking forward to the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival down in Canby. It's only about 18 minutes from where we live.

Appletini has arrived

Today was a glorious day. Not only was it another sunny day in Tualatin (before the rainy season starts). But today was the day my Appletini yarn arrived. Such glorious soft sock yarn just begging to be knitted up into a pair of Embosed Leaf socks. But I need to finish my Maple Leaf socks first.

Various projects...

Just thought I would show off some items I am currently making. I really need to get these done so I can start on some other items that I want to do.

Here is the beginning of my Hermione cable and bobble mittens. All that I have done so far is the cuff. It's being done in Cascade 220 that started out as Aran but got dyed with Kool Aid. The other is the Clapotis after 3 increase sections. It is being done in Lornas Laces Shepard in Black Pearl.

And last but not least - two pairs of socks. The Maple Leaf sock is on the right and the other is a simple anklet sock for the hubby in Moda Dea Sassy Stripes.

Saturday Sky and more...

You gotta love days like this. Today was another beautiful day here in Tualatin so we (the hubby and I) took the lil terrors (Nathan and Nicholas) out for a bike ride. One thing I noticed about the city of Tualatin is there are alot of bike trails. So we plan on taking the lil ones out on rides until the rains start this winter. We get in some family time and it helps me drop the extra baby weight I still have to lose from having Nicholas.

Here is a self portrait from 3 year old Nathan. He will be 4 this month on the 17th. Looks like he got ahold of the camera and just started pushing the buttons. On the knitting side, I actually finished a Clapotis Cap for me and have started the Clapotis scarf. I just have to take a picture. Plus I have some socks in the making - a pair of Maple Leaf socks and some Big Black Socks for Socks for Soldiers. The black socks are taking longer since they are done on size 1 needles. Plus I caved in to my intense desire for some of Scout's handpainted sock yarn and placed an order for her Appletini colorway. Can hardly wait till it arrives. I already know which socks I am gonna knit up.
